Katelyn joined JT in July 2010 with a strong background in media relations and crisis communications.
Katelyn has provided strategic counsel and communications support for a number of clients – including for The Chicago Community Trust’s On the Table civic engagement initiative, and she works with the Knight Foundation to replicate the initiative in communities across the country. She leads statewide media relations projects for patient advocacy campaigns in four Midwest states; and has authored communications strategies and developed message platforms for clients including Heartland Alliance International, Teachers Retirement System of the State of Illinois, Public Employees' Retirement System of Nevada, the Northbrook Park District and more.
Prior to joining JT, Katelyn worked for two years as a media representative at the Chicago Transit Authority, where she served as an agency spokesperson, responding to routine media requests and coordinating messaging in crisis situations. From 2006 to 2008, Katelyn served as media relations coordinator for the Chicago Cubs. She also worked as an account coordinator at Allied Advertising/Public Relations, planning publicity and promotions in the Chicago market for major movie studios.
She currently serves as a volunteer education ambassador for Bright Pink – a national non-profit organization focused on prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young women – educating, equipping and empowering women to be proactive advocates for their health.
Katelyn graduated from Iowa State University in 2003.
