Jonathan provides a range of advisory and consultant services involving public policy with local, county, state, and federal governmental institutions.

He has special expertise working with regulated industries including energy, utilities, telecommunications, manufacturing, transportation, real estate, and healthcare/senior living. Jonathan also brings substantial practice in economic development, land use and zoning, workforce development, and fiscal policy. A tireless advocate, Jonathan knows how to navigate the rotundas and halls of several state capitols as well as the Hill in Washington, D.C. For clients, he is able to leverage an extensive network of knowledge and business/political relationships throughout the Chicago area, Midwest, and the nation.

Jonathan is also the founder and co-director of the American Congressional Exchange (ACE), housed at the Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) in Washington, D.C. ACE enables Members of Congress to visit another member from the opposite side of the aisle in their district, learning about the host member’s district and leading discussions on shared interests. Members are paired by focusing on districts that differ geographically, culturally, and politically. In the first two years of the initiative, Jonathan and his team at BPC have organized 20 successful trips with 26 Members of Congress.

A native of Chicago, Jonathan’s public policy career has included roles as managing director of a public affairs consulting practice, executive director of The Evanston Chamber of Commerce, director of governmental affairs for The Greater New Haven, CT Chamber of Commerce, and serving on the bipartisan staff of the U.S. Senate Governmental Affairs Subcommittee on Energy, Nuclear Proliferation, and Government Processes, chaired by U.S. Senator Charles Percy of Illinois.

He is a graduate of Macalester College, St. Paul, MN, and holds a Master of Public Policy (M.P.P.) from the University of Michigan, and still plays ice hockey at least once a week.

TWO UNUSUAL AND MEMORABLE EXPERIENCES IN WASHINGTON, D.C.

1. While working on Capitol Hill, I also performed with and wrote lyrics for the renowned Capitol Steps musical political satire group.
2. I once had to create a graphic briefing on energy imports for President Reagan and the Secretary of Energy – long before there was something called PowerPoint.
