Kicking off The Chicago Community Trust’s Centennial year, On the Table 2015 was an imaginative public square designed to engage residents and improve communities across the region.

On May 12, 2015, in communities across the city and suburbs, Chicago-area residents came together in small groups to share a meal and discuss ways they can work together to make our communities stronger, safer and more dynamic. Kicking off The Chicago Community Trust’s Centennial year, On the Table 2015 was an imaginative public square designed to engage residents and improve communities across the region.

In all, more than 25,000 residents participated in conversations at nearly 2,000 events.

JT worked in collaboration with the Trust on every facet of On the Table, including outreach to engage participants from every Chicago neighborhood and residential zip code, as well as from 11 different area counties. Social media efforts using the hashtag #onthetable2015 propelled us into the number one trending spot on Twitter during the day in Chicago and into the top 10 nationally. Behind the scenes, JT managed the host and guest registration process, coordinated all participant communications, and helped produce content for a wealth of informational and promotional materials used to inform and educate about On the Table. Video, photography and media outreach was used to build awareness, inspire participation and amplify the day’s conversations.

In a letter recognizing the Trust’s Centennial milestone, President Obama said: “When Americans come together in common purpose and envision a future bright with opportunity, we can change our country in extraordinary ways.”

JT was proud to be part of such an exciting initiative aimed to do just that.
